There are many things in the world that each person finds interest in. Each of us has the capabilities, belief, and courage to try new things. This is a page to show some of the activities I have joined over the years. I learned that trying something new could get you somewhere you never expected to be. Take a chance and try something new. You never know what you will discover.
Basketball
Playing basketball with my friends for many years was a great experience. We started playing in 3rd grade and have come so far. We played in CYO Athletics for Epiphany and AAU for the Bay Area Rebels. Developing our skills, cooperating, and showing good sportsmanship was a big part of the game. On the right is a video of myself shooting free throws. Our team played against the players in the video while in the playoffs for our eighth grade year. |
CYO Athletics: 3rd Grade - 8th Grade AAU Bay Area Rebels Basketball: 7th Grade - 8th grade On the left is a picture of the team I was honored to play with in the championships. It was our seventh grade year and we came out in 2nd place. It was an exciting, zealous, and competitive game. |
Volleyball
For my eighth grade year, I had the opportunity to play in the Achievement Game for volleyball. It was an exhibition game where one player from each team in a division is chosen to play with and against other players. I was lucky enough to be able to serve the last two points of the game in the third set. The players I played with were very accepting, funny, and had a lot of sportsmanship. |
CYO Athletics: 6th Grade - 8th Grade Tremors DPS: 6th Grade - 7th Grade Sláinte Club Volleyball: 7th Grade I started playing volleyball a little later because I was scared of trying out. When I went to the tryouts in 6th grade, I was horrible. Playing badly made me not want to give up. To become a better volleyball player, I joined clubs to improve. I really wanted to work hard and try my best on something that was very new to me. |
Dancing
Westlake School of the Performing Arts: 2005 - 2015
When I was four, my mom brought me to my first ballet and tap class at the Westlake School of the Performing Arts. Since that class, my love for dancing grew. At some point in my dance journey, I have danced ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, lyrical, Tahitian, and hula. Doing all these styles of dance and performing really gave me the confidence to be in front of people. My dance school has participated in many dance competitions and traveled to different places. Our dances have been placed high or had overall winning scores. |
I am currently dancing Tahitian and hula. The group I am part of is called Te Orama. Our goal is to bring Tahiti to everyone who is watching us. It is a beautiful way to express the Hawaiian culture. Te Orama has also joined different competitions. A big competition we joined is San Jose Tahiti Fete. We competed in Beginners in our first time and in the Advanced level our second time. We won 1st place in many categories and won 1st place overall both times. |
For our school's talent show, my friends and I decided to dance Tahitian and share the Hawaiian culture with everyone.
